The site selected for
proposed development of the Anjanvel Port by CES is near
Veldur/Anjanvel
Village on the southern banks of Vashishthi River tidal
estuary meeting the Arabian Sea.

The site lies in Ratnagiri
District and about 90 NM south of Mumbai Port.

The nearest railhead is at Chiplun at about 60 km.

The distance from Chiplun off NH- 17 to Anjanvel is about
61 km.

The
port is located at Lat 17º 35’N Long 73º11’ E.

Land mass behind the site is hilly rising up to an elevation of 50 to 100m having
thick vegetation.

Anjanvel (Dabhol) is a natural fair weather Port.

At the entrance of river there is a sand bar of about 850 m width across the
mouth of the river.

A depth of 10 m exists all the way beyond the sand bar further upstream up to
5 km.

The 10 m and 20 m contours are at about 2.5 km. And 9.0 km. from the mouth of
Vashishthi River and the main land.

Facilities for ship breaking and ship repair / building were proposed by CES
at about 6 km upstream of the port site on right bank of river vashishthi.
