SALIENT FEATURES:

• CES has proposed a new port at Vijaydurg at Southern portion of Burmana bay near the mouth of Vaghothane River
  
  
• Proposed port is about 60 km. From Kokisare Railway Station and 55 km. From NH-17
  
  
• The port is located at Lat 16º 33’ ON Long 73º 20 OE
  
  
• Presently there is one jetty (51 m x 6.6 m) with maximum permissible draft of 3.0 m
  
  
• Bore logs available indicate generally very soft clay for a depth of 3 to 6m below seabed at proposed harbour basin and channel, which is underlain by moderate to completely weathered basalt layer and hard rock
  
  
• The 10m and 20m contours are about 0.9 km. and 3.0 kms from shore
  

Vijaydurg Port - Traffic Projection by CES Study:

Economic potential: 70% of the traffic potential of kolhapur and 20% of Sholapur are expected to be handled. (Presently, molasses is being handled.)
